It was another weekend of watching the over hyped teams of the NFL losing. There are four teams that have been really over hyped and three of them were in action Sunday. San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and the Washington Redskins all have been over exposed by outlets like ESPN to look better then they really are. Buffalo Bills were on a bye this week, but the other three managed to get scheduled against teams better then them and all three lost.
The first example is the San Diego Chargers. The four wins they have are against teams that are a combined 6-19 as of the completion of week 7. Then Philip Rivers wants to get on TV and talk about that we are 4-2. But Rivers, you are not getting the fact your team has beat nobody and you have to play teams that have winning records as your schedule goes on. The two loss came against teams with a combined record of 9-4.
The next team is the Buffalo Bills. I will admit, their wins have a little more credibility. They have beat teams with a combined record of 14-11. This was a fluke. Plus they beat a Patriots team that has no defense. I am not taking anything away from what they have accomplished, but the sun does shine on a dogs but every once and a while. The Earth will rotate back on its axis and in the right direction. The Jets and Patriots will finish one/two and the bills will finish in third, beating a horrible Dolphins team.
This next team I can’t believe I have to even talk about them. The Washington Redskins was the most obvious choice for a team that would start falling apart. Last week the team started to come unglued. As Rex Grossman started playing like the true Rex Grossman. Dear NFL, there was a reason why the Bears dumped Grossman and Orton off, they SUCK!!! I don’t understand why the Redskins and the Broncos didn’t see this or do their homework. The Redskins got manhandled by Scam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. Yes, the Panther team that had only won one game coming into this week. And yes, the Panthers are a better team then the Redskins, don’t let the records fool you.
Then finally we come to the last over hyped team of the 2011 season, the Detroit Lions. Their five wins have come from teams with a combined record of 15-18. They are another team that had recieved way too much attention to early. I like where they are headed, but they are not there yet. Now they have more issues then a defense that has many holes and a offense that has no running game. Now they have a coach that acts like an elementary child and has let his players think it was alright. Things need to change and need to change quickly before this season slips away and they don’t even make the playoffs!!
